NPC INFORMATION;
Title: The Seer

Personality: The Seer is something of an enigma. No one is quite sure of her motivations or her methods: some think she has some manner of true sight into the future whereas others merely think she must be some sort of mad genius. Her manner is refined and deliberate, though never obtuse: her actions can be seemingly nonsensical at first, though they have a strange habit of turning out in her favor. Her relationship with her Champion is one of deep, quiet affection even if they play all manner of 'roles' in the public and this is characteristic of her: to the casual eye, she cares about nothing, her hand moving chess pieces as she likes seemingly to her whims but if pressed it's very clear that her caring runs as hot as it is deep and the well-being of the city is her utmost occupation. When push comes to shove, she's utterly without pride or personal concerns.

No one knows entirely what she looks like as she wears a shroud of black and veils under a golden circlet. All that's visible of her face is her smile and of her body, her hands, elegant and tapered with a few gold rings.

Residence: Her residence is one of the tallest towers in the city and her apartments are at the very top as she likes to have a bird's eye view of the world around her as much as possible. Her decorating tastes tend towards minimalist, with an eye specifically for color and shape. She prefers natural sunlight when she can have it and most of the home is designed to use as much natural light as possible.

Character History:

raised as a luthor

Clark Luthor is the alternative universe version of Clark Kent, a Kal-El of Krypton as raised alongside Lex Luthor by Lionel Luthor. This change in who picked him up from his space craft resulted in a very different upbringing for the man who would be Superman: one of privilege, extreme emotional and occasionally physical abuse, (eventually homicidal) sibling rivalry, and intense amounts of education and responsibility. Unlike Kent, Luthor was raised to consider himself apart and above the humans around him, and his abilities were encouraged and even exploited by his father to get ahead in the world and destroy his enemies. Lionel wanted Clark to rule the world, even though Clark himself had no real desire to do so. Despite (or perhaps because of) these differences, Luthor still chose to become a 'hero' of a sorts: Ultraman, whose brand of justice resembled the Punisher more than the big blue boyscout he is in other universes.

the mirror box

The second major turning point in his life came when Clark Kent (in the main universe) managed to find a Kryptonian device called the mirror box which made them switch places between worlds. He had been searching for the box in his own world, looking to escape it alongside that world's Tess Luthor, and assumed at first that Tess had found the box first. This gave him a look at Kent's world, one where Lionel Luthor did not own practically everything, one much brighter than his own, and he wanted to stay, but Clark Kent (in Luthor's world at the time) found the mirrorbox and switched them back just before both of them nearly got a nasty dose of kryptonite to the face. The fallout of this, however, was that Tess of Luthor's world was killed by that Lionel, who managed to escape into Kent's world.

a different future

Once back in his own world now bereft of the only person he'd loved (Tess) and the one he'd feared (Lionel), the Oliver Queen of that world chose then to reveal to the world the identity of Ultraman and provide them with knowledge and actual chunks of kryptonite to kill him. Clark killed him for that little favor, much to the lament of that world's Lois Lane, which turned his focus towards getting back to Kent's world both to escape and to kill Lionel once and for all to avenge Tess. He did so, breaking the last of the mirroboxes after sending Kent to his world, but Kent found aid in the remnant of the Fortress in Luthor's world; Jor-El sent him back. Luthor, who had not succeeded in convincing the Tess of the main universe to let him kill Lionel and run away with him, was about to kill her when Kent returned and lured him to the Fortress. There, he offered Luthor 'a different future' now that Lionel was out of the picture and sent him home via Jor-El to try and turn over a new leaf on his own world. Not that that would last long...

Personality:

Clark Luthor is smooth, his manner polished and refined, his appearance always pressed and perfect. He was highly educated, expected to excel at everything he turned his hand to, and was put in positions of power very early in life and that absolutely shows. He presents at all times the image of someone who is to be obeyed and, to a lesser degree, feared, and while he can be exceptionally charming, never a comforting presence. He tends to move slow and pointed until he decides to strike, like a snake more than anything. In a fight with an equal or someone he's genuinely worried about, he plays no games and fights with everything he has at top level to try and end the fight as quickly and decisively as possible; with someone he feels comfortable defeating, however, he is much more gracious... or, depending on his mood, 'playful'. He can also be a bit of a snob, but usually in a sense of wanting to enlighten as opposed to merely bashing other people's taste or fashion.

He's lived a life of luxury but also one of fear; he doesn't like when things don't go according to plan and he has a tendency to threaten or enact violence if he finds the right lever to pull in such a case. Those threats can take the form of very matter-of-fact bargaining or, if he's genuinely angry, barking orders and intimidating body language. He'll happily talk about the fact that he's a mass murderer without any kind of shame or concern (as far as he's concerned, considering who he's killed, they had it coming) but he actually does try intimidating first, to an almost curious degree given his physical abilities, before actually getting to be in danger of lasting harm. He's never what you'd call 'restrained' but there's always precision in how he acts.

To those he likes and cares about, he's a damn lot of fun, though. He's the type to plan surprise trips, buy random presents, plan romantic evenings, get the best booze, the best food, and he seems to have a genuine appreciation for anyone he'd spend his time with. He doesn't trust easily, but he can function in a relationship without trust as long as both of them are ready to do just that. He desperately wants someone to trust, wants someone to build a life with and be happy with and sort of hide away from the world with together, but it's so clear that he doesn't believe it'll ever happen and it can occasionally make him bitter. If and when he ever found such a person (as he had with Tess in his world), it's clear he'd give her the world and pretty much deliver a heart on a platter for anyone who'd ever hurt them. He is extremely possessive of anyone he happens to like; he likes their time and their attention and he likes delighting them.

I tend to refer to him as the 'worst Hufflepuff' because it's so clear that he's still Clark Kent somewhere inside there but MAN did it get twisted a bit. Because despite growing up under the worst person ever, he still decided to use his abilities to be a superhero. He's basically Punisher!Superman, marking his city as a no-crime zone Or Else. He wants to be free and live with a minimum of suffering around him He just, unfortunately, went at it from a Luthor standpoint which told him to kill whatever was the problem.

Abilities: Clark Luthor has the usual capabilities of a Kryptonian under yellow sunlight. This includes:

  • Super strength - he is stronger than Clark Kent, who in the course of canon, did in fact push a PLANET away from the Earth so... really strong.
  • Super speed - fast, though not NEARLY as fast as anyone with a relationship with the Speed Force. Just... as fast as all that power can make him
  • Flight - what it says on the tin
  • Super senses - hear/smell/see things from ridiculous distances away or with incredible detail, etc.
  • Super durability - pretty much the only thing that's gonna leave a mark is green kryptonite or magic
  • X-ray vision - what it says on the tin
  • Heat vision - same
  • Cold Breath - can freeze objects with his breath
  • Super Breath - or just blow the hell out of something
  • Advanced Healing - he heals REALLY quick, especially if you get him in sunlight. Sunlight is practically a phoenix down.
  • Knowledge of Kryptonian Science/Culture/Etc. - given some of the weird crap Kryptonians can do, I'm listing it as an 'ability'
  • More mundane: business management, editorial abilities, writing, fencing and other combat styles (armed and unarmed)

Inventory: Whatever he's wearing, his Luthor signet ring, a ring with the crest of the house of El.

SAMPLES;
Handler Interaction:

She doesn't often call him to her chambers, which means that the summons itself contains a message: that the matter is important and that it cannot wait. That's why he comes, at the appointed time as requested; another thing he has learned is not to come early, to trust that when she says to come is when he ought to be there. It'd been difficult, the first few weeks, but they'd both learned.

To anyone else, he supposes that she looks serene, but he was raised practically from birth to watch, to read the signs of someone's expression, their body, what they aren't saying, and he knows as well that she expects him to. She had chosen him for a reason, she'd said. Flattery, he'd thought at first, though now he thinks on it fondly. What he learns is that she cannot show her concern, cannot show her fear, but she is certainly feeling it. It makes something in his chest clench, along with his fists; he hopes this is an assassination, because whatever if making her unhappy like this deserves to die. Possibly quickly. He'll consider the alternatives on the way.

He makes his way to her, to her chair, and he's never knelt to her, perhaps, but he always takes her hand, kisses her ring, watches to see that faint uptick in the corner of her lip that means he's delighted her just a little with his play.

Her head tilts up, half a centimeter at most, and he knows that he isn't going to like what she says any more than she does. But his hand is still against hers, and her fingers squeeze the smallest fraction. Perhaps it will be all right at that.

"My lady?" he asks with a tilt of his head.

"Champion," is her response, and he has always thought her voice held a musical quality. Not simple and sweet and clear, like a flute. Something closer to a pan pipe, something with a rasp and a hollow echo of other notes within it.

"You called for me?"

"You came."

He squeezes her hand now, and it isn't comfort, because that is not his way. What it is is a reminder. He is here, and he will do what she needs. Whatever it is, whatever he needs to do. Give him orders. Tell him how to make this better.

"I came."

"And now you must go."

"To where?" He wonders if this is necessary, the dance they do, of if it exists because they both enjoy it. Because it feels strangely sacred, and so few things in his life have felt like that. Then again, he was a Luthor. They were almost entirely profane by default.

"To Sentinel's Rest. Wait there until sunset. Do as you will."

Assassination, in as many words. She knew what he wanted to do.

"Of course. As you request."

Letting go of her is almost painful, and he likes to think it's for both of them. But as he'd said, she'd said... he had someplace to be.

"Return here after?"

Her nod was slow, measured, and told him that he would be best served by washing up before returning. Return to her, once he was clear of evidence.

"Of course."

"Of course."
